Bird Deterrent Accessory

TBD. I purchased, but have not installed, this device as insurance in case birds take a liking to my weather station. There are two other perch points (post and light) nearby so maybe I'll get lucky and birds will continue to perch there instead. Tempest recommends only installing if really needed. The design looks good although I wonder about the lifetime of the elastic and the potential of the points to retain snow load. A thoughtful and affordable design compromise of many factors.

The top of the weather station is basically an open invitation to any and all birds in your neighborhood. This bird deterrent is absolutely a requirement to keep them from landing on it, and so far it does exactly that. It’s easy to install and feels secure once it’s on. It’s such a must-have I think they should bundle it with the weather station.

This is my 4th one to purchase. They work great as advertised and is a must in the pasture where the birds are thick. Only small issue is the plastic base that stretches around the Tempest loses its elasticity after about 8-12 months and it will slip. When that happens your wind readings are invalid.

This went on easily, fits perfectly, and like everything else associated with the Tempest is made well. My birds do not even give my station a glance, and keeping the top clean is critical. Birds in my area like high perches and have a tendency to drop their payload before they take off - this prevents the problem.
