Works as expected

I have used a Tempest weather station for several years and when mine eventually failed I replaced it with the same because it works well.

Tempest Weather Station

Easy and quick set up! The app offers all the detailed weather information you could possibly want! Very simple to navigate! We love our new weather station!!

Great Weather Station, great supporth

I just had my weather station installed this past Wednesday. Before I had a rigger install the sensor on a corner of my house facing the backyard, I set up the hub and synced it with the sensor via the iPhone app. Setup was very easy and quick, even while using assistive technology (I am totally blind). I had a little trouble figuring out how to navigate the app, but once I figured that out, my station went "live," and the data from my weather station is available online.

Tech support, though initially by email, was quick and clear. They did an excellent job of explaining things to me and answering my questions. They are definitely looking to improve their products, both in terms of hardware and software. What's really nice is that they were very amenable regarding making their Web site more accessible to those of us who are blind or visually impaired. Other companies either blow off this issue, or do nothing about it. Kudos to Tempest for taking an interest re accessibility. And, oh by the way, compared to some other weather stations, the price is quite reasonable.--Matt Chao, N1IBB.

Miss a dedicated display

All-in-all the Tempest weather station is good. It arrived as promised. Installation was easy because of the support hardware provided. I already had a 4x4 setup from the previous weather station. Connection to the outdoor unit went without a problem using the hub and phone app. I was even able to get the weather data to display on the screen of our Samsung smart refrigerator. It would be good to be able to connect the Tempest to 'Smarthings', I am still looking to see if that can be done.
I do miss the dedicated display though. The previous system had one that showed outside weather information and inside information. Yes, the tempest system will display on a tablet that can be put in the bamboo holder but still a dedicated display would be better.
Don't take this to be a bad review. The Tempest system was easy to install and setup. And it is working well. I will probably look into seeing if it can connect to SmarThings on a future rainy day.

Terrific weather station, but... Snow blockage. Only one Station per Hub?

I love the Tempest station so much that I purchased a second one. One is near the garden, rigidly mounted, shielded from prevailing NW wind for (hopefully) the most accurate rain measurements. The second will be mounted 50 feet in the air (including 10 foot center rooftop mast, no guy wires) with two yagi antennas for unblocked wind speed/direction data. Vibration might therefore affect rain sensor data on the roof mast - TBD. Snow did blow into/onto wind speed/direction and solar detectors on the garden sensor this winter but I brushed it away from the ground with a whisk broom on a paint roller pole. That will not be possible on the rooftop sensor and will count on wind and snowmelt. My big surprise is that a separate wifi hub is required for each sensor to easily switch between full data sets from each sensor. One wifi hub connects multiple sensors but the software makes data visibility difficult. Tempest technical support is superb with quick and knowledgeable response via phone or email.

Hi Roy, great review! Thank you. By the way, you don't need a second Hub if you want a second sensor device and it will be within range of the 1 Hub. A single Hub can receive data from many Tempest devices. If you want to purchase a second device separately, let us know and we'll be happy to help!
