The Universal Mount is an excellent option for installing the Tempest device on a variety of structures and vertical surfaces.
Two mast configurations are possible. Attaching the short end of the pole in the bracket will maximize installation height while attaching the long end in the bracket instead will provide greater distance from the mounting surface.
Please note: Bracket mounting straps are not included.
Tempest sold separately. More info can be found here.

- - Outer diameter of the pole is 1.25" (31.75mm).
- - The pole and mounting bracket are made of weather-resistant, powder-coated aluminum.
- - Mounting hardware is made of stainless steel.
- - Kit includes all required mounting hardware plus extra hardware in case it is needed. Bracket mounting straps are not included.
Due to box size dimensions, the Universal Mount will ship in its own box, separate from other items purchased together.
How do I install the Tempest Universal Mount for my Tempest Weather Station?
You'll first need to choose a vertical surface or structure that will allow you to mount the Tempest Weather Station above surrounding structures. Next, you will assemble the mast with either the short end in the bracket or the long end in the bracket. Once you choose a mounting style, you will then secure the bracket to the surface with the appropriate hardware, attach the mast into the bracket, and finally place the Tempest weather station onto the mast.
Is the Tempest Universal Mount made out of weather-resistant materials?
Yes, the universal mount from Tempest is constructed with weather-resistant materials. The mast and bracket are powder-coated aluminum for harsh weather conditions, and the mounting hardware is made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust and corrosion.
What are the different mounting options for the Tempest Universal Mount?
You can either mount your Tempest with the short end in the Tempest Universal Mount bracket, which maximizes height and provides clearance on the side of a house above a roofline or use the long end in the bracket to provide greater distance from the mounting surface.
It's a mount, not easy to get excited about... But, it is a good value for the money, allows flexible mounting conditions, and works perfectly for our new home.
Installed my Tempest on my garage eave today using the Universal Mount in an attempt to get accurate rainfall measurements. Though I have a large yard, there are large trees blocking rain and wind close to my entire fence line. I initially mounted my Tempest in a garden area away from the fence on a 5 ft. tall, two-section, 1 in. diameter birdfeeder pole with an improvised adapter but the wobbling sections caused it to read 2 to 3 x the rain recorded in an adjacent tube-and-funnel rain gauge. Remounting the Tempest on the edge of a south-facing roof needed for its solar power (my north roof is an unsafe >2 stories up for solar access) caused it to read 3 or 4 degrees hotter than another electronic thermometer in the shade of my north patio roof.
What I really need is a single-section 1.25 in. diameter pole tipped with an earth-auger and stabilized by lateral bars to put the station in my garden without having to deal with mixing concrete to set a piece of conduit. I may end up going the concrete route.
I love the integration of Tempest with both my Rachio irrigation controller and Home Assistant home automation system, and have big plans for automation programs, but only if I can mount it so that it reads accurately.
It's a piece of junk
Super simple to install this mount to the corner of our home. Looks great. Superior construction.
I thought the setup was easy and stright forward. The think I appreciated the most was all the hardware was in their own bag and labled. Its small but it shows the thought put into the product.
