In the great north woods we tend to have a lack of sunshine in the winter. I had a lot of offline notifications but none since I installed the power supply
We get inversions from time to time in the winter months. This Power booster was a god send. Thank You Tempest
I am using the battery for powersince my Tempest doesnt hold a charge during rainy times in OR. It does the job. It should have better solar charging
It’s a great idea and my sensor wasn’t charging without it while the sun is in the south sky and a 6 floor office building is to the south of my patio. My criticism is this, why is it not in a weatherproof box? If you’re going to mount it on the pole, which isn’t a good idea anyway because wind can catch it and cause vibration that impacts readings, it’s obviously out in the sun, rain, etc. Fortunately I found a weatherproof box on Amazon that holds all the excess flat cord rolled up in the bottom of the box and the sensor unit sits on top of the cord. You’re missing an opportunity to provide a weatherproof case solution.
The power boost arrived fast and was very easy to install. I’m not even sure I need it as the on-board solar battery has held up well so far. However there are periods (we’re 1900ft up a mountain!) when we can be in dense cloud for days, so we may need a bit of back up. Just using the battery option rather than the mains power option, as the Tempest is away from an outlet. We’ll wait and see.
