About the Power Booster: The easy-to-install Power Booster Accessory is made for the Tempest sensor device in locations where there is not enough sunlight to keep it running year-round.

Our original Tempest weather monitor was damaged in a recent storm where a 100FT Eastern white pine fell on the Bldg. that supported it causing some damage.
The cable to the power booster was severed in a few places and was replaced.
Works great, good size and easy to mount. It would be nice to have options of shorter cable length; excess cable is exposed to the elements.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I expected the Power Boost to fully charge the Tempest when using 8 AA alkaline batteries. Not even close. All it does is slow the rate of discharge of the units battery. However, when I plugged it into a power outlet it charged to capacity (2.80 v) within an hour and a half or so. When I disconnected the power plug, the battery charge quickly dropped to ~2.7 v and continued to drop (currently at 2.52 v after 11 days with batteries installed). My location is surrounded by trees. I have no choice but to put the Tempest in a shady location. So I hoped a battery solution would work. It does, but it doesn’t. I have two choices, either buy lots of high end batteries, or plug in the Power Boost for at least a few hours every day. I’d still recommend the product though.
I was trying to revive an old weather station although the power booster did charge the battery. It appears the circuit board on the weather station has gone bad, so the power booster accessory did it's job. If anyone has a weather station circuit board, they would like to sell reasonably let me know.
With the power booster I was able to connect a gel cel with solar panel so that during the occasional weeks when there isn't enough sunlight to keep my tempest powered, there is plenty of power to spare. I love it!
