The LightMap Weather Station is manufactured using a new direct-to-acrylic process. The front face is printed with rich UV cured inks, while a thin LED core illuminates icons and symbols with vibrant colors. Learn more about this patent pending process and the company behind LightMaps: LUMIQ Inc.
Several attempts getting logged into the website to add my wifi router. Once it did, could never link up.
Sorry to hear the issues with getting the LightMap Weather Display setup! If it's still not working please contact LightMaps directly at info@lightmaps.io - they will be able to assist with setup.
Thought it would be a LCD - but turns out it’s all LED - really nicely done. Even the wifey likes it.
If you are looking for a fixed graphical display of current (and future with a few pushes of a hidden button), this is for you. This is not a video display it is a fixed graphic with color coded LEDs behind. I've actually grown to like the display.
The power connections on the back seem to be a little risky as they are surface mounted and exposed, should this fall on a metal object there is a possibility of shorting out the power supply, I've put a piece of tape over these terminals.
Lightmap is a noble attempt to provide your outside weather info, but I find it just as easy to look on the app for what I need.
What bugs me is that I have to stare at it and interpret the information from the format presented. I guess this says a lot about how accustomed I have become to digital presentation with numbers. I look at Lightmap and have to think about what the symbols represent. By the way, there should be some card or sheet listing what all the symbols mean included with the unit. I can get the same stuff from my phone just as easily.
I keep this by the door leading to our garage and I pray I'll soon learn all the information so I don't have to stop and think about what I'm looking at.
Better than expected, find myself using it more and more everyday.
